Liverpool's UCL 2024-25 fixtures: Date, time, stadium & more
The Reds will face big sides such as Real Madrid, AC Milan and Bayer Leverkusen.
Liverpool’s European odyssey begins against AC Milan, although they will remain in the competition until January thanks to a revamped Champions League system.
Liverpool’s immediate opponents in the competition were drawn at random on Thursday night by UEFA’s automatic program, matching them up against eight other teams.
Following the first match, Xabi Alonso comes to Anfield in game week four with Bayer Leverkusen followed by Real Madrid three weeks later. Liverpool fans are going to be watching these games through their fingers.
Given how their schedule has unfolded, Liverpool have a great chance of winning all eight games. The Reds won’t be concerned about their home matches against Lille and Bologna. None of their away games against RB Leipzig, AC Milan, PSV Eindhoven or Girona could be regarded as intimidating matches. If Arne Slot’s team had been compelled to fly to Leverkusen and Madrid, that might have been a different story.
Liverpool could not have hand-picked a finer schedule. This is in many ways a dream draw for them. Despite having home advantage, Real Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen will still be tough to beat at Anfield. AC Milan will have the support of a boisterous crowd at San Siro.
However, let’s avoid making this draw appear more dire than it is. It will make Liverpool fans very happy that they have a good chance of winning enough Champions League games to take the lead in the league.
