We’re there, negotiating: Luis Diaz addresses Liverpool future amid Barcelona & Bayern interest

The Colombian winger has a couple of years left on his Liverpool contract.
There are multiple sources which suggest that Luis Diaz might be bidding goodbye to the English Premier League winners Liverpool in the ongoing summer transfer window.
The Colombia national football team and Liverpool winger has performed well for both his club and country during the 2024-25 campaign. In 36 Premier League appearances for the Reds, Luis Diaz went on to score 13 goals and also bagged seven assists.
His top performances helped Liverpool clinch the league title. Luis Diaz still has two years remaining on his contract with the Reds. The winger’s exit can bring in a hefty amount for the club.
But as things stand, Liverpool have rejected a formal approach for Diaz from the Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich. The German team do need a winger more than ever now, with Leroy Sane leaving the club and Jamal Musiala getting severely injured during the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 quarterfinal match against PSG. The German giants do have other names on the list, but Luis Diaz can be a big add-on for them.
Luis Diaz breaks silence on transfer rumours
During the national team break in March and June 2025, the Colombian winger agreed that he and his agents are in talks with other clubs because his new Liverpool contract negotiations have bogged down.
The Colombian and Liverpool winger has also been linked with Barcelona and Saudi Pro League clubs. It will be interesting too where Diaz ends up to begin his 2025-26 campaign.
Although he is happy with the Reds, Luis Diaz, who is still in contract negotiations with the club, has refused to confirm or deny his stay at Anfield.
While talking to a Colombian influencer, Mauricio Gomez, Diaz said, “We’re there, negotiating. We’ll see what can be achieved, for us and for the club. We’ll try to do our best and make the best decision.”
The 28-year-old is ready to come back from Colombia and start his pre-season training with the Liverpool squad. The Arne Slot-led side have been given some additional time off after Diogo Jota’s tragic death.
Luis Diaz has also received an offer from Cristiano Ronaldo‘s Al Nassr, which will be a cash-heavy offer. “We’re in the process of negotiations, talking with the club, with Liverpool, with everyone who’s approaching us, but I’m very calm where I am, you know, very happy. Trying to make the best decision now,” Diaz further said.
