Modric scored the winner in Croatia’s 1-0 win against Poland in the Nations League.

Luka Modric provided a coy reply when asked about his retirement. This happened after Croatia’s 1-0 win against Poland in the UEFA Nations League.

The former Tottenham Hotspur player has continued to perform at his peak. The star once again made headlines in the UEFA Nations League. This time it was against Poland.

The 39-year-old seems to have enough energy in his tank as he played the entire 90 minutes against Poland. Modric was scintillating throughout the game, scoring the winning goal and also completing 94% passing. He also created five chances. It appeared like he was playing in his prime years.

However, he has now reached an age where he will have to make a decision on his football career. His former Real Madrid teammate Toni Kroos did make one last season when he decided to retire completely from football after Euro 2024.

Following the Nation League game, Modric was asked about the prospect of retiring from football. The Croatian rather gave a diplomatic answer. The player suggested he is taking each game individually. The Croatian said: “With me, you never know. We have to take it game by game. I can’t think about the future. When I no longer feel the fire in me, I’ll retire. Only I can feel that fire and make the decision.”

Only time will tell about the player’s decision on his future. For now, the Croatian will continue to make an impression among the fans with his flair from the middle of the pitch.

However, there is certainly an obvious decline in his athleticism. Meanwhile, the player has remained at the peak of his creativity from the middle of the park. He hopes to win silverware with his national team.

Modric, who extended his contract with Real Madrid has just a year left on his Madrid deal. It underlines that it could be his last season with the club.
