Man United set to battle Real Madrid & Barcelona for signature of Álvaro Carreras

Carreras was a part of the Red Devils’ academy in recent years

Benfica full-back Álvaro Carreras is targeted by Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Barcelona. Prior to joining the Eagles earlier this year, the 21-year-old played with the Red Devils’ academy for four years.

He was first loaned to Benfica in January, and they exercised their €6 million purchase option to make his stay permanent.

Carreras has solidified his position this season after mostly playing as a substitute for Benfica the previous campaign. Across all competitions, he has made nine appearances, including seven starts.

According to reports, scouts from Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Barcelona have all dispatched representatives to watch his performance for Benfica.

Due to Tyrell Malacia and Luke Shaw’s absences, Erik ten Hag has deployed Diogo Dalot on the left side of the defence. Due to the latter two’s injury struggles, the Premier League team is looking for other possibilities.

They are left with only one player in the left-back area and the club will be forced to sign a left-back in the winter transfer window. United are also linked with Chelsea star Ben Chilwell.

According to the source, Manchester United can use their buyback clause to outbid Real Madrid and Barcelona in the race to recruit Álvaro Carreras.

Carreras, on the other hand, had an estimated transfer value of €7.8 million, which has increased significantly since the season began and is evidence of his impressive play and rising reputation.
