Rodri could finally make his first club appearance of the season

Manchester City have defeated Chelsea, West Ham United, and Ipswich Town thus far in their first three top-flight games, earning nine points to start the 2024–25 campaign signalling that they will once again defend the title.

Only Liverpool, with whom they also share a goal differential of +7, can match City’s flawless record, but the Citizens are clearly in the lead at the top of the rankings thanks to their higher goals scored total.

Considering the absence of midfield specialist Rodri, who hasn’t played a minute for his team since getting hurt in the Euro 2024 final, Guardiola’s team is still undefeated at 100%.

Manchester City squad update against Brentford

Rodri eventually was in action but for City, as he appeared for Spain in Sunday’s 4–1 victory over Switzerland, missing out on the matchday roster for La Roja’s inaugural Nations League draw against Serbia on September 5.

Because of this, Rodri looks certain to play in his first Premier League game of the year against Brentford on Saturday, while Savinho is also expected to return soon.

Guardiola disclosed that the Brazilian attacker was experiencing some knee pain when he surprisingly withdrew from the squad to play West Ham last time out.

The 20-year-old has indicated that he will be fine for the weekend by sharing an Instagram photo from the gym, and Guardiola voiced confidence that Savinho will be fully fit once the international break is over.

If Savinho and Rodri are fit for the Bees’ visit, Guardiola will just have to worry about Oscar Bobb and Phil Foden, two of his offensive options for Saturday’s match.

Owing to a gastrointestinal illness for which he is taking antibiotics, Foden was forced to withdraw from the England squad, while Bobb faces months on the sidelines owing to a broken leg.

The City team is hoping that Foden will be well for the weekend as the Premier League winners prepare for a demanding eight days.
