Manchester City injury update ahead of Bournemouth clash; Savinho, Walker, De Bruyne & others
City are without many key players for the clash against the Cherries.
On Saturday afternoon, Premier League leaders Manchester City will visit the Vitality Stadium to play Bournemouth.
Wednesday nightâs 2-1 away loss to Tottenham Hotspur in the EFL Cupâs round of 16 was the Cityzensâ first loss of the season.
After sweeping seven and tying two of their first nine games, Pep Guardiolaâs injury-plagued team will now turn their attention back to the Premier League, where they are now one point ahead of Liverpool at the top.
However, many of their key players will be absent for this game. We take a look below at the injury list of Man City.
Manchester City injury news ahead of Bournemouth clash
Rodri, a key midfield player for Man City, will miss the remainder of the season due to damage to his knee ligament sustained in a 2-2 draw with Arsenal in September.
Oscar Bobb broke a bone in his leg following a training session in August, and according to Guardiola, the winger plans to make a comeback in January or February of the following year.
Kevin De Bruyne has been out of Man Cityâs previous nine games with a groin injury. While he is fit for practice, there is still no date set for getting back to first-team play.
Guardiola has stated that Kyle Walker, the right-back, has âno chanceâ of participating in the ânext gamesâ after having missed Man Cityâs past four games due to a knee injury.
Before City defeated Sparta Prague in the UEFA Champions League on October 23, Guardiola announced that Jack Grealish would miss seven to ten days due to an undisclosed injury. The attackerâs âno chanceâ of participating in the ânext gamesâ has now been confirmed by the former Catalan coach.
Due to an unidentified injury, Jeremy Doku has missed Man Cityâs previous three games and is probably going to be out until after the international break in November.
Savinho will be evaluated before Saturdayâs match after being carried off on a stretcher during the midweek loss to Spurs due to what seemed like an ankle injury.
Manuel Akanji was supposed to start against Spurs in the middle of the week, but he left the starting lineup owing to what appeared to be a groin injury he sustained during the warm-up. The defender hopes to be fit to play in some capacity, but he will be evaluated before Saturdayâs match.
Josko Gvardiol, who entered the game as a second-half substitute, was knocked down at the end of Wednesdayâs match. The defender will be evaluated before Saturdayâs game.
