Rivals Manchester United & City eye Sporting CP's Ruben Amorim as potential successor for Erik ten Hag & Pep Guardiola

The Red Devils are exploring their options to replace Erik ten Hag.
According to the reports in Germany, Manchester United have enquired about Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim as they continue to search for Erik ten Hag’s replacement. The English club are willing to change coach if the results don’t change in the Premier League.
The 2-1 win against Brentford this weekend has eased some pressure on the former Ajax manager but he will continue to be in the spotlight if the club doesn’t extend their winning run.
United are currently 11th in the table and have had a worst start to the season which has raised doubts if the Dutch manager should continue at the club.
The club shortlisted many names. One of the favourites to replace Ten Hag was Thomas Tuchel who recently became the head coach of the England national team.
Now, the club are looking at other options. Ruben Amorim has emerged as another name on the list. He could be a potential successor of Ten Hag. The Portuguese manager has laid a mark on Sporting CP and led them to the title last season.
Since then he has become one of the underrated managers in Europe. United aren’t the only one interested in making Amorim their head coach. Their local rivals Manchester City have also kept him as one of the choices to replace Pep Guardiola as their next head coach.
Guardiola’s contract with City will expire after the end of the season and so far there has not been any sign of the former Barcelona manager open to extending his deal with the club.
This could see both clubs fight for the Sporting CP manager if their respective situation doesn’t change. For now, it’s unclear, and Ten Hag will be hoping that the team can crunch some good numbers following their victory over the Bees.
