Manchester United identify Cole Palmer as long term Bruno Fernandes replacement: Report
Red Devils technical director Jason Wilcox is a big fan of players.
Manchester United are already working on finding a replacement for Bruno Fernandes, and one of the players who has been seen as an ideal successor to the Portuguese at the club is Cole Palmer.
The clubโs hierarchy feels that they can pull the plug to sign the former Manchester City player, and the clubโs technical director, Jason Malcolm Wilcox, is a massive fan of the 22-year-old and wants to bring him in the future, reports suggest.
However, given his time at Manchester City, United feel they can still sign the forward, but it also depends on Chelsea if they will be willing to sell him, given that he has become an integral part of the club since his move to the club last summer.
Palmer decided to join the Blues after failing to get minutes at City, and his signing for the club saw him become a household name at Stamford Bridge, scoring 22 Premier League goals last season.
Palmer further cemented his status in the league when Gareth Southgate called him for Euro 2024, and he scored a goal and provided an assist at the competition.
It will be interesting to see how United will be able to convince Chelsea to sell their star player in the future. However, it wonโt be the first time United have managed to sign Chelsea star players, given that in the past they have recruited the likes of Juan Mata, Nemanja Matiฤ, and last summer Mason Mount.
Moreover, Palmer has been a big United fan since his childhood days, which could give United an incentive to pursue him, and there hopefully wonโt be any issue in agreeing on a personal deal with the forward.
Meanwhile, Fernandesโ future could soon come to an end at the club, as he has two years left on his United deal, and earlier, the midfielder had commented on his future.
Palmerโs arrival to the Old Trafford side would be a huge coup for United as he would be a fantastic replacement for Fernandes and would undoubtedly have a swift impression because he has experience playing in the league.
