Manchester United legend urges club to sign Paul Pogba on two-year contract

The Frenchman is currently a free agent.
Dwight Yorke, the 1999 Treble winner, has pushed Manchester United to sign Paul Pogba whom he considers an “X-factor” for a two-year deal.
After his contract at Juventus was terminated, the France international, who has played for Old Trafford twice before, is now a free agent. This decision was made while Pogba was still serving a doping punishment. However, on appeal, the original four-year suspension was lowered to 18 months.
In order to enter training and start improving his fitness, Pogba must find a club before he can resume his professional career in March 2025. There have been hints that he might receive an offer to return to the Red Devils.
The former frontman Yorke told Sports Lens that the 31-year-old midfielder is worth a chance.
“Paul Pogba is better than what we have, that’s for sure. Whether the fans will welcome him back and make life easy for him, I don’t know, that could be the problem he faces.
“A fit Pogba, playing football the way he can play football, will definitely add value to the team. He’s a sensational player; he’s a really good talent. He offers that little bit of an X-factor by being there. He does things that no other players can do. I would think with the ban, being out of football he’ll have a little bit of a point to prove. He doesn’t drink, he obviously looks after himself, so you can take a punt on a two-year deal.
“I would review it. I certainly wouldn’t turn my nose up at it. I would really consider it. Why would you not? When you look at what we have in midfield, Pogba coming into that would instantly improve things.”
Although Paul Pogba hasn’t participated in a competitive match since early September 2023, his experience is still undeniable. The World Cup winner has been linked to Ligue 1 team Marseille and many MLS teams in addition to the rumours that he may rejoin Manchester United.
