Sir Jim Ratcliffe has introduced fresh new rules.

Manchester United, under new owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, have brought new rules to save costs at Old Trafford. They have axed lunchboxes for matchday staff and cut the number of programmes facilitating corporate fans.

The new owner brought fresh measures to help the club make better financial decisions. Under his direction, the club commenced a root-and-branch financial review. This is after Sir Jim Ratcliffe took a quarter stake in the club earlier this year, which saw them make 250 redundancies.

Now it is understood that other areas can help the club save more during matchdays. During every game, the club’s staff were provided with a lunchbox that included a sandwich, cereal bar, bag of crisps and soft drinks. However, in United’s first game of the season, they learnt that there weren’t any lunchboxes this time.

Meanwhile, some said that they were given leftovers from corporate staff. But United claimed that the food that was provided to them (the club’s staff) was the same as those supplied to fans. The club insisted that it was not leftover food.

Following the review, it was revealed that most of the lunchboxes that were being supplied were not eaten and went to waste. A worker said that they were forced to eat nearby toilet. ‘They’ve set up a dining table next to four toilet cubicles,’ he said. ‘You come out of the cubicle, and someone is sitting right in front of you, eating.’

Meanwhile, United have dismissed such claims. They clarified that statement, saying that some workers eat in a quieter staff area that has an adjoining bathroom and shower room.

Those who shelled out thousands to watch the game from private boxes were surprised to find out during the Fulham game that only five were given out of 10. ‘’Given the money we pay to not even get a program, each seems miserly in the extreme,” said one disgruntled fan.

This approach is indicative of helping the club curb food waste. It will help the board ensure that the club maximises the amount it can spend on its playing squad.
