Napoli have expressed interest in signing the Argentine forward

Due to concerns over PSR, Manchester United are now willing to sell Alejandro Garnacho, with Napoli emerging as a potential suitor for the player, reports suggest.

On Sunday, Michele Criscitiello of Sport Italia reported that Napoli had selected Alejandro Garnacho of Manchester United as a substitute for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who was headed to Paris Saint-Germain. According to the report, Napoli authorities have already contacted the Red Devils since Antonio Conte has approved the Argentine’s transfer.

According to Corriere dello Sport, United may be willing to sell the 20-year-old attacker since they must adhere to the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules. The Red Devils will profit greatly from Garnacho’s academy status, and they have apparently set an asking rate of €70 million (£58 million/$71 million). However, there is room for negotiation regarding the transfer fee, the report further suggests.

Alejandro Garnacho’s game under Ruben Amorim

Since Ruben Amorim took over as United’s manager, the Argentina international’s playing time has drastically decreased. The winger was included in the playing eleven for United’s FA Cup victory over Arsenal on Sunday, but he has not started in the team’s last four Premier League games.

Rashford and Garnacho were dropped for the Manchester derby last month. While always being linked to a move away, the Argentine forward has forced his way back to Amorim’s plans, albeit only as a substitute, unlike his teammate.

In recent weeks, Amad Diallo has been United’s first-choice forward, frequently joining Bruno Fernandes behind either Joshua Zirkzee or Rasmus Hojlund. The winger, who recently inked a new, long-term deal, was only healthy enough to start on the bench for United against Arsenal in the third round. Garnacho received the nod instead of Rashford.

It was apparent that Amorim justified Garnacho’s inclusion by citing his training results and overall demeanour. Rashford’s prolonged absence is said to have resulted from his lacklustre performances at Carrington and off-field activities.

Amorim’s team will return to Premier League action on Thursday when they visit Old Trafford to play relegation-threatened Southampton.
