The club will build the iconic stadium close to Old Trafford.

The club’s official social media page unveiled conceptual photos of the proposed Manchester United’s 1,00,000-seat stadium.

With ambitions to construct a new stadium with 1,00,000 seats close to Old Trafford, Manchester United have set their eyes on building the finest football stadium in the world.

The mammoth project, which is anticipated to cost over £2 billion and might be finished in five years, was announced by co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

Following a lengthy consultation process over whether to renovate the current stadium or construct a new one, United made their decision. Since 1910, Manchester United have called Old Trafford their home.

According to the project’s designers, Foster and Partners, the football stadium will have a new public plaza “twice the size of Trafalgar Square” with an umbrella design.

Three masts referred to as “the trident” will be part of the design. According to the architects, they will be 200 meters high and visible from a distance of 25 miles.

It will be a part of a larger Old Trafford area revitalization project, which is expected to be the largest of its kind in the UK since the Stratford region was transformed to accommodate the London 2012 Olympics. The ideas have already received government support from Chancellor Rachel Reeves.

Criticism of Old Trafford – England’s biggest club ground with a 74,140 capacity – has grown in recent years, with issues including leaks from the roof of the Sir Bobby Charlton Stand.

The stadium has not had significant development since 2006. United have spoken to senior people involved in the most recent large-scale stadium developments, including the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles and the rebuild of Real Madrid‘s Bernabeu Stadium, as part of their background work.

“Today marks the start of an incredibly exciting journey to the delivery of what will be the world’s greatest stadium,” said Ratcliffe.

“Our current stadium has served us brilliantly for the past 115 years but it has fallen behind the arenas in world sport. I think we may well finish up with the most iconic football stadium in the world.”
