Amorim’s time at the club has been turbulent.

After the Portuguese coach’s future at the club has been confirmed, Manchester United’s position on Ruben Amorim’s future as head coach has been made public.

During the 2024–25 season, the Red Devils thought that a change in their dugout would bring about a turnabout in their fortunes. Amorim took over at Old Trafford when it was decided to fire League Cup and FA Cup-winning coach Erik ten Hag.

In his 41 games as manager, he has only managed 15 wins, giving him a pitiful 36% win percentage. United’s most recent setback was a humiliating 1-0 loss to domestic opponents Tottenham in the Europa League final.

Following the loss, Ruben Amorim stated, as uneasy inquiries about his continued presence persist:

“If the board and the fans feel I am not the right guy I will go tomorrow with no compensation. But I will not quit.”

He also told TNT Sports: “I’m confident that I’m still the guy. More than (in) the beginning. I know that it is going to be tough. I know that we lost against an English team. I know that the patience of the fans is going to be really short next season. But I guarantee you I will not quit, I will not go away, so at this time I am really confident.”

After a challenging start to his job, Ruben Amorim allegedly contemplated leaving in January, but he currently has the full backing of Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the United board.

According to BBC Sport, “After last night’s press conference, Man United’s previous stance has not changed.” Ruben Amorim is still supported by the club and ownership, and the supporters believe the same.

Despite ranking 16th in the Premier League and missing out on European qualification for 2025–2026, United fans still shout Amorim’s name whenever they can. The deal of the 40-year-old is scheduled to expire in the summer of 2027.
