Rashford earlier revealed he is ready for a new challenge.

According to reports, Manchester United are prepared to use Marcus Rashford in a swap deal to acquire Victor Osimhen from Napoli.

Following a conversation in which the attacker stated his wish to depart for a “new challenge,” Rashford was not considered a key component of Ruben Amorim’s ambitions at Manchester United. The England international has been left out of three of the Red Devils’ previous four matchday rosters.

According to The Sun, United are thinking of offering Napoli a swap deal in an attempt to capture Osimhen because they are currently in no state to shell out a big sum after their massive spending in 2024 summer. The Nigerian striker, who is presently on loan at Galatasaray, wants to permanently leave Gli Azzurri.

By including Rashford in the deal, Napoli might lower Osimhen’s £62 million ($76.8 million) release clause. Over the summer, the two clubs engaged in negotiations. Scott McTominay is now flourishing in Italy following his departure from Old Trafford.

With Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund struggling as the team’s only strikers, United are hoping to add a striker this January as the Red Devils are having trouble finding offensive balance. As a result, United have been connected to several strikers, including Viktor Gyokeres, a Sporting CP striker who has played under Amorim. The Red Devils however have a roadblock with their reported financial difficulties.

It is said that Rashford did not rule out remaining at Old Trafford, where he is under contract until 2028, despite declaring in December that he is prepared for “a new challenge.”

In order to meet the Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) and provide Amorim with funding to restructure the team, the club would benefit greatly from a significant payout for homegrown Rashford.

The Red Devils have until the January transfer window closes to try to ascertain Rashford and Osimhen’s current status. Until then, Amorim will need to concentrate on getting United back on the field, beginning with the difficult trip to the league’s top team Liverpool on Sunday.
