Manchester United's Leny Yoro expected to be out for 3-6 weeks with injury: Report

Leny Yoro had an impressive debut against Rangers during pre-season.
Manchester United’s latest superstar signing, Leny Yoro, could potentially be sidelined for a period of 3-6 weeks. He suffered a serious ankle injury during the pre-season friendly against Arsenal in the United States.
To make matters worse, even striker Rasmus Hojlund sustained an apparent hamstring issue in the same match. He came limping off the field after bagging a goal. The Red Devils have travelled to the USA for their pre-season tour this summer. They are scheduled to face the likes of Real Betis and Liverpool.
After beating a host of top clubs such as Real Madrid and Liverpool for his signature, Manchester United finally announced the signing of talented centre-back Leny Yoro from French side LOSC Lille.
United are set to pay a total transfer package of €62 million, with €50m as a fixed fee and another €12m in add-ons based on various contractual clauses. Following the completion of the official paperwork and medical tests, Yoro put pen to paper on a five-year contract until June 2029. The deal also has an option to extend for a further year.
Just two days after signing for the club, Leny Yoro made his Manchester United debut in the 2-0 win against Scottish giants Rangers at the Murrayfield Stadium. With his composed presence, rock-solid tackles and strong passing range, the 18-year-old defender enjoyed an impressive debut performance for the Red Devils.
Owing to his incredible opening match showing, manager Erik ten Hag named Leny Yoro in the starting lineup against Arsenal. However, it proved to be just a short-lived cameo. Yoro had to be substituted out late in the first half after reportedly picking up an ankle injury in his left foot.
Following the game, Erik ten Hag told MUTV, “We have to wait 24 hours, and then we will hopefully know more. We were very careful, especially with Leny. It is disappointing he had to come off, but let’s be positive and see what comes out.”
Manchester United are yet to release an official update regarding the seriousness of Leny Yoro’s injury problem. However, several videos have surfaced on social media showing Yoro using crutches to walk with his left foot covered in a protective boot as he made his way towards the club’s team bus.
According to several reports, Yoro is expected to miss the remainder of the USA pre-season tour, along with possibly the start of the upcoming 2024-25 Premier League campaign.
Following the pre-season tour, Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United will lock horns with Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City in the FA Community Shield.
