Marc-Andre ter Stegen could follow Paul Pogba & Ansu Fati to AS Monaco: Report

Barcelona are pushing to sell the German goalkeeper.
Given the uncertainty surrounding his FC Barcelona future, Marc-Andre ter Stegen might be the next major figure to join AS Monaco this summer, reportedly following Ansu Fati and Paul Pogba.
According to reports, Marc-Andre Ter Stegen and AS Monaco are negotiating a possible summer transfer. According to L’Equipe and Mundo Deportivo, the Ligue 1 team have contacted the Barcelona goalkeeper, who may be leaving Camp Nou after almost ten years of service.
Ter Stegen’s replacement has already been signed by LaLiga winners Barca, who paid €25 million (£21 million/$29 million) to bring Joan Garcia from local rivals Espanyol.
Under Hansi Flick, Garcia is anticipated to take over as the starting goalkeeper, with Wojciech Szczesny, a former Juventus goalie, being considered as a backup. It will see the German goalkeeper become the third choice, which will certainly impact his minutes on the pitch.
Barca would also be able to balance their budget before the new season if they sold the highly paid German goalie.
AS Monaco hope to build a squad around Ter Stegen, Pogba & Fati
In an effort to assemble a team that can contend with Paris Saint-Germain for domestic championship, AS Monaco are already close to signing Fati, another Barcelona outcast, in addition to Pogba.
The team, led by coach Adi Hutter, sees Ter Stegen as a key component of their ambitious strategy to contend for the top spot in Ligue 1.
The degree to which Barcelona are determined to let Marc-Andre Ter Stegen go will determine his destiny. According to reports, the 33-year-old is not eager to go just yet. But if the team keeps pushing him out of the picture, that could change.
In case the transaction doesn’t work out, AS Monaco are also looking into backup options like Ugurcan Cakir and Vanja Milinkovic-Savic.
Meanwhile, the medicals of Pogba and Fati are on the verge of completion, which will see the French club conclude the two top signings during the summer window as they are looking to add steel in the squad for the upcoming season.
