Man United loanee Marcus Rashford comments on his long-term Barcelona future

The English star has contributed 11 goals in 12 matches for Barcelona.

Marcus Rashford has asserted that he intends to stay at Barcelona beyond the completion of his season-long loan from Manchester United after an exciting start to life at the Spanish club.

The England forward could be permanently signed by Barcelona for £28 million, which is less than the £40 million United would demand from any other team.

The 27-year-old’s United contract expires in 2028, but with Ruben Amorim as head coach it looks like he has no future at Old Trafford.

It all started when Marcus Rashford publicly declared that he was ready for new challenges, which affected his relationship with Amorim, resulting in the forward being banned from training with the group and initally loaned out to Aston Villa.

However, Marcus Rashford has found his new home where he is thriving and being in the limelight after every game. He is enjoying his time at Barcelona and hopes to continue there.

“I’m really enjoying my time in Spain. A very big change. I’m learning every day, I’m enjoying it a lot. I hope to be here for a long time. I get along very well with Roony, as well as Jules and Frenkie. It’s a team in which we all mix. We are united,” he said in a Q&A on Barca’s YouTube channel.

“The team is fantastic, I just have to be in the right position. I will continue to try to do this. We have to continue like this to be our best version. We have a lot more to do this season.”

Marcus Rashford’s career was revitalised under Unai Emery at Aston Villa, where he played the second half of the previous season.

With a double against Olympiakos in the Champions League on Tuesday, he increased his goal total to five in 12 appearances for Barcelona.

Rashford will play in his first El Clásico this weekend against Real Madrid. Talking about the match he said:

“I’m really looking forward to the Clasico. I want to do my best to win the game. It’s going to be special. El Clásico is the most watched match in the world,” he added.

”Remembering a moment is difficult, because if you are a football fan, you have seen all the Clásicos. It is important to learn from the best players and see how they play in moments of pressure. I remember Messi’s hat-trick in his early days; they are great games to watch.

“You don’t have to be a fan of either to enjoy the match. It’s special. We are ready and we are already looking at the classic. It’s my first, it’s the biggest game in the world of football.”

He is currently the top scorer for Barcelona in the Champions League and is also enjoying a productive campaign in LaLiga.
