The England international has turned down offers from other clubs.

Before Monday’s transfer deadline, Marcus Rashford is determined to sign a loan contract with Barcelona. However, a deal will only be finalized if the Catalan team is able to release up to two players.

Due to his steadfast desire to join Barcelona, Rashford has turned down offers from a number of other teams, including Tottenham. Barcelona will need to raise money in order to pay Manchester United for Rashford, all while staying in the LaLiga’s squad cost limit regulations. In theory, they are willing to pay the majority of Rashford’s £375,000 weekly contract.

United risk having a player who is not popular with Ruben Amorim remain at the club until Barcelona can get one or two players to leave when the window closes at 11 p.m. GMT on Monday. All sides want him to leave Old Trafford, even though Rashford and Amorim have acknowledged that the forward might stay for the remainder of the season.

Mathys Tel, a versatile forward for Bayern Munich who is also a target for Spurs and Aston Villa, is someone United would be interested in signing if Rashford leaves.

Prior to Thursday’s 2-0 Europa League victory over FCSB in Bucharest, Amorim hinted that should Rashford remain, there might be a path back into his first-team plans.

“You can look at our team and imagine the profile of the players,” the head coach said. “Now imagine a talent like Rashford. Our team should be so much better with Rashford. But he has to change. If he changes, we are more than welcome to put in a talent like Rashford. And we need it.”

Citing “training reasons,” Amorim has not used Rashford since United’s 2-1 victory over Viktoria Plzen on December 12. Rashford earlier stated that he wanted a “new challenge” two days after being benched. He has since only appeared in one matchday squad, in the 2-0 loss to Newcastle on December 30.
