The Catalan club wanted to buy the Manchester United loanee during the January window.
Marcus Rashford, 27, has made a calculated move to increase his prospects of playing for FC Barcelona in the upcoming campaign.
Since Ansu Fati hasn’t gained head coach Hansi Flick’s trust this season, the Catalan team currently has a void on the left wing.
All indications suggest that the current Spanish club’s first team No. 10 will need to leave this summer in pursuit of playing time, a return to form, and a more significant position, even though his contract is set to expire in 2027.
In this regard, Rashford has chosen to leave his business to Pini Zahavi, a well-known and seasoned agent with close relations to FC Barcelona.
Beyond the vast network of the Israeli agency located in London, the primary reason for the selection by Rashford is his primary goal to play for Barcelona.
He thinks a move to Barcelona may be possible because of Zahavi’s solid club ties and his cordial relationship with club president Joan Laporta.
Two important details should be mentioned:
Barcelona had already looked into the idea of taking Rashford on loan during the previous winter transfer window after the player was presented to the team by a reliable middleman. Zahavi also represents both Hansi Flick and Robert Lewandowski.
According to reports, the United loanee is prepared to accept a wage reduction from his present Manchester United salary in order to make the move to Barcelona possible. Wearing the Barça shirt is his top priority, even though he is currently on loan at Aston Villa.
Given that he is still under contract until 2028 and is not part of United coach Rúben Amorim’s plans, a loan agreement is thought to be the most practical course of action.
According to people close to the player, preliminary negotiations with Barcelona have already started in advance of the summer transfer window. But as of right now, the team has not commented on any possible transfer activity.
