Top five most expensive Premier League signings in summer 2024
Chelsea are involved in two of these five deals.
The 2024-25 season of the Premier League is already up and running. Clubs have made numerous signings to ready themselves for a long competitive season. Many clubs have signed top players to bolster and strengthen their ranks.
Some clubs in the Premier League have splashed huge sums of money to acquire certain players. Let’s take a look at the top five most expensive signings in the 2024-2025 Premier League season.
5. Joao Felix (Atletico Madrid to Chelsea) – £41.9 million plus add-ons
Joao Felix has once again found a place in the ranks of the Chelsea squad. Last time Felix was on a short loan from January to June 2023 but this time he has moved in permanently. Chelsea notoriously known for spending big sums managed to sign the Portuguese with a £41.9 million plus add-ons deal from Atletico Madrid.
The player has already had a fantastic game. Felix scored once in the 6-2 win over the Wolves in the Premier League last game.
4. Amadou Onana (Everton to Aston Villa) £50 million
Aston Villa broke their transfer record by signing Amadou Onana from Everton. Initially, Bayern Munich and Arsenal were rumoured to sign Amadou Onana however Aston Villa managed to secure the deal. Onana’s signing comes at the perfect timing for Aston Villa. They needed a replacement for Douglas Luiz.
Amadou Onana will fit in perfectly for Douglas Luiz and help Aston Villa in their Premier League and European campaign.
3. Pedro Neto (Wolves to Chelsea) – £51.4 million plus £2.6 million add-ons
Wolves have parted ways with their winger Pedro Neto who has now joined Chelsea. Even though it was a very emotional departure for both the club and the player, it had to be done in order for Neto to take his career to the next level. Neto has had his fair share of injuries which has hampered his playing time.
The Portuguese winger has the potential to stand out amongst all the players Chelsea has signed. However, statistics cannot dictate how good Pedro Neto is. Neto is a very direct winger who has quick feet and is very pacy as well.
Neto can play on both wings as well as in an attacking midfielder position. His versatility also makes him a great asset for Chelsea.
2. Leny Yoro (Lille to Manchester United) – £52.2 million plus £7 million add-ons
Real Madrid were very close to signing Lenny Yoro but Manchester United swooped in and closed the deal. United are ushering in a new era of the Premier League under new owners INEOS who have made fantastic signings. One of those signings definitely includes Lenny Yoro.
Yoro has been one of the best centre-backs for Lille last season. His appearances, minutes played, passing accuracy of 92 per cent, 36 successful interceptions and tackles in Ligue 1 last season showed how good he is. Lenny Yoro’s PL debut for Manchester United has been delayed due to an injury in pre-season. Nonetheless, he is still expected to be a key figure in Erik ten Hag’s plans.
1. Dominic Solanke (Bournemouth to Tottenham Hotspurs) – £55 million plus £10 million add-ons
Tottenham Hotspurs broke their record signing fee back in 2019 when they signed Tanguy Ndombele. Spurs have now once again broken their record signing fee after signing Dominic Solanke from AFC Bournemouth.
Solanke has earned his move to Tottenham Hotspurs after a stellar run of performances for Bournemouth in the 2023-2024 Premier League season. Overall, Dominic Solanke scored 21 goals for Bournemouth across all competitions out of which 19 were scored in the Premier League.
