The Saudi club is considering terminating Neymar’s contract.

Following the 2025 Club World Cup next summer, Neymar’s father has made a suggestion that the star might become a free agent.

Due to multiple injuries, Neymar has missed most of his time at Al-Hilal, making his time in Saudi Arabia a misery. Before rupturing his ACL while playing for his country in October 2023, the Brazilian played in just five games during his first season in the Saudi Pro League. After a year, he made a comeback, but yet another injury setback kept him out of action.

Although there have been rumours regarding Neymar’s prospects in Saudi Arabia and that Al-Hilal are thinking of ending the superstar’s deal early, the 32-year-old’s father recently disclosed why his son is still listed on the team’s books in spite of his injury issues. In addition, Neymar Sr. hinted at his son’s future at the conclusion of the 2024–25 season.

Talking on the AS Roundcast podcast, Neymar’s dad stated,

“Let’s wait and see what will happen and how Neymar will really feel. He will be free to decide. We have never been so free to decide where we are going and having a 32-year-old free on hand is a gift for any businessman.

“All the clubs will be there and Al Hilal will be in this championship, they won this place. They already have one of the biggest stars they could have to compete in this and a boy with experience in this type of competition. That is why they did not give up on the second year of Neymar’s contract.”

According to reports, the Brazilian international’s childhood club, Santos, is planning a sizable offer to entice the great attacker to return home. The Brazilian star is also linked with a move to Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami and a lot could be confirmed by the end of the season. Where Neymar ends up in the summer of 2025 is still up in the air.
