The Brazilian star helped Santos survive relegation.
Neymar’s heroics helped Santos survive relegation as they beat Cruzeiro 3-0 to remain in the Brazilian Serie A top division. The forward steered his side to a dominant victory and secured 12th place in the table.
However, it came at a cost as the former Barcelona player played with an injury despite medical staff advising him to avoid playing. Neymar had a knee injury, but instead decided to play and help his side avoid relegation.
The 33-year-old was successful in keeping his side safe in the table, and now he will undergo knee surgery following the culmination of the season.

However, before the game, Neymar participated in team warm-up, and during the practice, a Santos fan told him that he would humorously give his knee, while Neymar replied, “I NEED BOTH.”
Despite his injuries, he performed well when it counted most: he scored eight goals in the 19 league games he was allowed to play, including five goals and an assist in his last four games. Even when he wasn’t fully fit, his presence changed Santos‘ self-assurance and offensive intent.
His return was never intended to be hurried. Neymar’s ACL injury, sustained during the 2023 World Cup qualifiers, was still healing. However, he made a decision that was both personal and emotional: he returned to his boyhood club and continued to play despite the injury to help his club survive relegation and stay in the top flight.
