Neymar urges Vinicius Jr to extend Real Madrid deal & avoid his mistake: Report

Neymar, a fellow Brazilian star athlete, has given Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior some crucial guidance on his future. The 25-year-old football player’s future at the “royal” club is still up in the air.
Rumour has it that the parties can’t agree on the new contract’s conditions. Vinicius may therefore depart the team at the end of the current campaign.
According to an OK Diario article that cited Transfer News Live, Neymar has urged Vinicius to extend his Real Madrid deal and avoid making the same mistake twice. The 33-year-old’s “mistake” in this reference was leaving FC Barcelona to join PSG for an unprecedented €222 million.
Neymar advises Vinicius Jr to continue at Madrid
Neymar thinks Vinicius’s career at Real Madrid would be far more brilliant and stable. Additionally, he clarified that switching to a new project would not ensure the legacy and standing he has established at Real, even in the event of a financially alluring offer.
Neymar stressed that it might be a strategic error for Vinicius Jr. to leave Real Madrid in search of a Ballon d’Or. Even though Real Madrid’s internal competition is fierce, he thinks the team can provide Vinicius with something that no other team can.
In 2017, Neymar moved from Barcelona to PSG. He chose this option in the hopes of winning a Ballon d’Or at the time. He thought that at Barcelona, he would be overshadowed by Lionel Messi. PSG then paid the largest transfer fee in history—220 million euros.
Frequent injuries at PSG rocked Neymar’s career, and he drifted away from his Ballon d’Or aspirations. After eventually leaving Europe for Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia in 2023, he struggled with more injuries and returned to his boyhood team, Santos, in 2025.
