Nigeria announce squad for October International break; Victor Boniface included

The Super Eagles will face Libya twice in the AFCON qualifiers this October.
Nigeria will play their pivotal 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualification doubleheader against the Mediterranean Knights of Libya in mid-October. The Super Eagles interim coach Augustine Eguavoen has announced a 23-man roster.
Some well-known players are on the list, which was made public by the Nigeria Football Federation on Saturday. However, two notable exclusions are Orlando Pirates defender Olisa Ndah and Galatasaray attacker Victor Osimhen, who are both sidelined by injury.
Osimhen, who has been playing fantastically, had a muscle injury on September 28 when Galatasaray played Kasımpaşa in the Super Lig.
The Turkish team acknowledged that the 25-year-old attacker missed a few weeks due to a problem in his upper left posterior muscle group. Ndah, who has been essential for the Orlando Pirates, is also out because of injury worries.
Despite the obvious absences, Eguavoen’s team still has seasoned players like Alex Iwobi of Fulham, Wilfred Ndidi of Leicester City, and Captain William Troost-Ekong.
Chidera Ejuke, who has been with the Super Eagles since 2022 following a run of strong performances at Sevilla, is also welcomed back to the team.
