Nationalelf have won three Euro titles so far.

According to an orangutan at Dortmund Zoo, Germany, the hosts of Euro 2024, are expected to win their opening game against Scotland by a close margin.

Walter, 35, has experience picking football matches’ results. He has participated in German and European club competitions, the World Cup and the Euros.

Two buckets, one with a Scotland scarf and the other with a Germany scarf were set in his cage on Thursday. Germany will begin the competition as heavy favourites against Scotland on Friday in Munich.

“Walter stopped in front of the buckets, and then he took a look at both and he was very strictly going to the German bucket, so I think it must be a victory for the German team against Scotland. But then he went to the Scottish bucket, so may be the Scottish will be very close too,” Dortmund Zoo spokesperson Marcel Stawinoga said.

Walter now adds himself to the list of animals, which also includes an octopus and an elephant, that have correctly anticipated the results of international football matches by selecting one bowl of food emblazoned with the flag of one side over another.

Paul, the oracle octopus, who resided in an aquarium in the German city of Oberhausen, was one of the most well-known. Paul became well-known during the 2010 World Cup thanks to his extraordinary ability to anticipate Germany‘s match results. He was right about the country’s results in seven of his predictions.

Julian Nagelsmann’s starting lineup will also be anticipated by many. Robert Andrich will start, despite Pascal Groß’s impressive run to claim a position in central midfield alongside Toni Kroos.

Bayern Munich supporters will notice that Leroy Sané is conspicuously absent from the starting XI. Sané will be benched as İlkay Gündoğan maintains his grip on the No. 10 spot, forcing Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz to play broader roles.
