Palmeiras eye move for Cristiano Ronaldo ahead of FIFA Club World Cup 2025: Report

Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr failed to secure a place in the Club World Cup.
In recent days, a rumour has taken the Brazilian football scene by storm: could Cristiano Ronaldo, the global icon of the sport, don the jersey of Palmeiras for the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup 2025?
The idea of seeing Ronaldo in action at Allianz Parque or on American soil during the FIFA tournament has electrified fans. However, not all is as it seems. According to Danilo Lavieri, a journalist from Uol Esporte, the chances of this transfer materialising are virtually non-existent.
“As expected, the possibility stirs the imagination of football fans. But there is no chance of this happening,” Lavieri noted, emphasising that Ronaldo’s staggering annual earnings, exceeding $1 billion, make it financially unfeasible for Brazilian football.
Renowned for its adept financial management, Palmeiras have forecasted revenues of over $1 billion in 2025, supported by ticket sales, player sales, and sponsorships. Estevão’s recent $160 million move to Chelsea is a perfect example of the team’s financial strength.
It is anticipated that Allianz Parque will bring in $55.8 million from ticket sales alone, bolstering Palmeiras’ ability to make large investments.
Ronaldo’s signing would provide significant obstacles, though. His anticipated monthly income at Al-Nassr is currently $13 million, which would need to be drastically reduced in order to relocate to Brazil.
Palmeiras might offer a short-term deal centred on the Club World Cup performance, with the possibility of expansion into the Libertadores and Brasileirão. Another challenge is adjusting to the Brazilian football schedule, which is more rigorous than the Saudi league’s, particularly in light of Ronaldo’s advanced age of 40.
The possibility of Ronaldo joining the team has split fans. On social media, many people show their excitement, but some raise questions about whether such an investment is prudent for a player of his age.
If Ronaldo shows up, the possibility of record crowds at Allianz Parque thrills fans because a game involving CR7 can sell out in a matter of minutes.
