Paul Pogba on getting approached by Pep Guardiola, Man United exit, Juventus return & other insights from recent interview
The midfielder will return to action in March.
Paul Pogba will soon be seen on the field playing football once again after his four-year doping ban was reduced to 18 months. The midfielder can return to practice in January and will be seen in action in March.
However, it’s unlikely he will do so for Juventus. The player is currently in talks with the Serie A club to terminate his deal and start his career somewhere else.
Ever since the news broke out that Pogba’s ban has been reduced to just 18 months the former Manchester United player has been in the headlines. Recently the midfielder has given plenty of exclusive interviews. In the below article, we take a look at some of it.
On coming close to leaving United
Pogba revealed that he wanted to leave Manchester United before Ole Gunnar Solskjær arrived. However, under him, the midfielder enjoyed his best year. Pogba did end up leaving when his deal with United expired.
“The year Jose Mourinho went and Ole came, it was my best season at Man Utd…”. But after the last game, I told Ole and Ed Woodward that I thought it was my last year and that I wanted to leave”.
Turning down Pep Guardiola to sign for Juventus
This would shock many fans as nobody would have envisioned that Guardiola would approach Pogba to join Manchester City. But seems like the France international was loyal to United fans and the club.
“Yes, I turned down Pep Guardiola’s approach to accept Juventus’s proposal. That story is true”
Pogba speaks on links to Marseille
After talks with Juventus regarding terminating his deal came to light, the midfielder has been linked with many clubs. Marseille are among them but it seems like it’s a rumour.
“Evra said that as a joke! He’s big friend of Mehdi Benatia but that’s it”.
Pogba will never join AC Milan
“Will I join AC Milan? Impossible. Even if Ibrahimović calls me, he knows I won’t betray Juve”, told Sky Sport. “I do not see myself with any other jersey. My focus is on getting back into the Juve shirt”.
Willing to continue at Juventus
“I’m willing to take a salary cut to stay at Juventus.”
“I’m just thinking about training and playing for Juventus.”
“It’s not me that needs to speak, the pitch will do the talking and Thiago Motta will judge with his eyes”.
Fans will see a different player
“For sure it’s gonna be a new Pogba. For sure. Even better than before.”
“More hungry and with more determination. I feel like a kid who wants to be a professional again. This is what drives me”.
