Pedri says Lamine Yamal brings 'similar feeling' to Barcelona squad as Lionel Messi

Yamal has often been likened to Messi since his rise at the club.

According to midfielder Pedri, Lamine Yamal gives the Barcelona team a “similar feeling” to what Lionel Messi gave during his time at the club.

Comparisons to Messi are becoming more frequent as a result of Yamal’s quick ascent in the Barcelona and Spanish national team ranks. With both players developing as left-footed gifted individuals from La Masia and shining on the grandest platforms, the talented forward, who is only 17 years old, is bringing back memories of the Argentine legend’s early days in Catalunya.

A pivotal player in Barça’s current lineup, midfield maestro Pedri, has openly recognized Yamal’s special spark for the team.

“The feeling is similar to the one we had with Leo: knowing that something good could happen to us,” said Pedri.

In an interview with Sport, Pedri acknowledged that Yamal always has an exciting presence when he takes the field.

But a string of injuries in the last several seasons hindered his development and prevented him from playing when it mattered most. The Canary Islander has made a spectacular comeback this season, finding his rhythm and taking centre stage in Barça’s midfield once again.
