The Spanish manager wants to be reunited with his former star
According to reports, Pep Guardiola is interested in signing Lionel Messi, who may move to the Premier League club Manchester City on a six-month loan deal.
After losing eight of their last eleven games, drawing two, and winning one, Manchester City are currently in terrible form. Before their match against Tottenham in the EFL Cup Round of 16, everything was going well for Pep Guardiola. Spurs won 2-1, and the outcome started to reveal weaknesses in a City team without Rodri.
After losing 1-2 to Bournemouth in their subsequent game and then 1-4 to Sporting CP, City suffered back-to-back losses in what appeared to be an easy encounter to get back to winning ways.
When City returned to domestic football, their bad play persisted, as they lost to Tottenham and Brighton. After that, a 3–3 Champions League draw with Feyenoord offered some optimism, but it was short-lived as Liverpool approached. Guardiola was humiliated by a 0–2 loss at Anfield, but he eventually managed to win 3-0 against Nottingham Forest.
Even that triumph was fleeting, though, as they lost to Manchester United and Juventus in back-to-back games after drawing 2-2 with Crystal Palace.
Despite bringing in a defensive midfielder, the former Barcelona manager wants an attacking player who can make things happen. However, it appears that Guardiola is happy with Ilkay Gundogan in that position and is not searching for a defensive midfielder. In order to cover the leadership gap caused by Rodri’s absence, Tuttosport reports that he plans to sign Argentinean sensation Lionel Messi during the winter transfer window.
In order to get his club back on track as the second half draws near, Guardiola is reportedly interested in recruiting Messi on a six-month loan. According to reports, co-owner David Beckham will not attempt to thwart Messi’s present move to Inter Miami. Since joining Miami in July 2023, Messi has participated in 39 games, tallying 34 goals and 18 assists.
