The Spanish head coach led City to four titles in a row.
Pep Guardiola of Manchester City claims that no other team will reach 100 points in his “lifetime” and win four consecutive Premier League titles.
City, who are currently enduring one of their worst spells under the Spanish manager, had won four league titles in a row. It is surely one of the biggest feats under the former Barcelona head coach.
In an apparent jab at Arne Slot’s team, manager Guardiola stated his team’s recent accomplishments will endure before Sunday’s match against Premier League leaders Liverpool.
The Cityzens and the Reds have gone head-to-head for the league title twice in the past and both times Guardiola’s team has emerged winners in the race. Meanwhile, in the past two seasons, Arsenal emerged as title contenders under Mikel Arteta and came close to winning the championship but City’s league dominance saw them retain the title twice.
He addressed Sky Sports in an interview with former manager Neil Warnock: ”No one is going to win [with] 100 points, and four-in-a-row in the Premier League. It’s not going to happen in my lifetime, I’m sorry!”
Makers of history over the last four years, City have dominated the Premier League, and no team in the division has yet to exceed their 100-point total from 2017–18.
They have been incredibly dominant. Although Liverpool could stop City from winning their fifth title in a row this season, it doesn’t appear that they will be shattering any City record in the process.
Slot in his first season as Liverpool’s head coach has done an impressive job so far. But the Reds’ form has dipped in previous games. If it continues that way it will certainly foil their chances of winning the league.
Today City will face Liverpool in another highly intense game. Despite Guardiola’s team remaining fourth in the standings they have enough mettle to still derail the Reds’ chance of winning the title by coming out with a win.
