The Spanish midfielder had to be subbed out against Brentford.
Rodriās fitness continues to be a concern for him this season after he suffered another injury in Manchester Cityās 1-0 win over Brentford. He started the game but was replaced by Nico Gonzalez in the 22nd minute.
Last campaign, the 2024 Ballon dāOr winner suffered an ACL injury and missed the entire season. He returned from a long-term injury during the Club World Cup, but he has remained out of action for most of the matches during this term. The Spanish midfielder has been an injury doubt since the start of the new season and has already missed many matches due to the recurring issue.
Pep Guardiola issues update on Rodriās return from fresh injury
Rodri also missed the Cityās previous league game due to knee pain and now was subbed off early against Brentford. However, Guardiola hopes that his recent setback isnāt serious after he confirmed the player has sustained a muscular problem and confirmed his return timeline.
āI remember the press conference [asking] why [did] I substitute Rodri in Monaco? Why do this, why do that? I would love to have Rodri every three days, but after one year [out], it happens all the time; it is so demanding. That is why we tried to be gentle, play 60-65 minutes, but it cannot happen more.ā
āIt is muscular (hamstring), so two weeks or three weeks. Of course, I donāt want to lose him even a little bit, but it is a pity because he is such an important player. We tried to take care of him, but it is what it is.ā said Pep after the 1-0 win.
Rodri opens up about latest injury setback
āI feel a little bit in the hamstring but seems like itās not that muchā
āI hope to be available in two weeks time for Everton gameā
With a recent injury blow, Rodri is set to miss Spainās October World Cup qualifying matches.
This will hopefully be enough to recover on time for the next games for City as he looks to gain his full fitness, as City will need their most important midfielder in the squad for the possible title charge.
Moreover, Guardiola has warned that the midfielder could take the entire 2025-26 season to reach his full fitness, but the club has not been able to cope well in the absence of the Spanish star.
Despite starting the season on a sluggish form, City are now starting to get back to their form and are fifth in the league, three points adrift of first-place Arsenal.

Guardiola has said he will be out for two weeks or three weeks.

No, but he has struggled to remain fit this season despite no injury.
