Canada suffered a 2-0 defeat to Argentina in the opening game of the competition.

Peru’s opening-round match held significance for both Chile and them. It seemed almost certain that Canada would lose to Argentina, meaning the first team to reach three points would go through to the next round. But their scoreless draw has given Canada the opportunity to take the second slot in the group.

Argentina defeated Canada 2-0 to open the tournament, but the outcome was both encouraging and disheartening. Argentina are the world’s top-ranked squad and the reigning champion of both the Copa America and the World Cup.

It’s promising that Canada, who previously didn’t belong on the same pitch as the top-ranked teams, lost merely 2-0 and entered the second half with a scoreless draw.

Given their dismal performance in the lead-up to the tournament, it was not surprising that Peru‘s offence had trouble in the first game. Before the game, there was a sense that both sides would attempt to outlast one another long enough to win by a score of 1-0.

Although it didn’t work out, if Peru had succeeded in scoring, the plan was already in place. It won’t be as simple for them to do the same against Canada in this matchday 2 fixture of Copa America 2024.

Despite having ten shots against Argentina, Canada were unable to score. Three shots were taken by Alphonso Davies, but none of them found the back of the net. For the Red and White, Jonathan David had a really poor performance. David, one of Ligue 1’s best scorers, attempted one shot at the goal, but it missed. In this clash, you should anticipate a strong comeback effort from him.
