Ronaldo has been out of action since late February after sustaining a hamstring injury.
The Portugal national football team is gearing up to be back in action for an international friendly break. They are going to first take on the Mexico national football team and are then going to battle it out against the United States Men’s National Soccer Team.
The Roberto Martinez-led side have been performing well. They first outplayed the Spain national football team to clinch the Nations League title and then did well during their FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The Portugal national football team have announced their squad for their upcoming friendlies against Mexico and the USA. But there is one important member that has been left out and it is none other than the 41-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Al Nassr star sustained a hamstring injury during a Saudi Pro League fixture against Al Fayha. He has been ruled out for 2 to 4 weeks and is expected to be back in action soon. As per Roberto Martinez, the injury is minor and CR7 will be ready to be a part of the squad for the upcoming FIFA World Cup.
There have been multiple speculations that suggest some players who can replace Cristiano Ronaldo.
Rafael Leao

The 26-year-old has been an important part of the squad in the attacking front for AC Milan. Under Massimiliano Allegri, he has been playing as a striker. Rafael Leao can contribute to the Portugal national football team in multiple positions on the attacking front. Leao seems like a strong choice to start in place of CR7.
Gonçalo Ramos
The Paris Saint-Germain striker can be another reliable option to look at. He is a full-time striker and has come up with some good performances for the Portugal national football team. In just a single start during the World Cup Qualifiers, Goncalo Ramos scored a goal and also bagged an assist.
Joao Felix

Despite heading to the Saudi Pro League, Joao Felix has yet again been included in the Portugal squad. He has been performing decently for Al Nassr and will be looking to put in a strong performance in the upcoming friendlies.
The 26-year-old has been consistent with his efforts for his club and will be keen to replicate his performances for Portugal.
Gonçalo Guedes

Gonçalo Guedes is going to be a crucial asset in the absence of Cristiano Ronaldo. He can compete as a winger and is also capable of scoring goals as a striker. Roberto Martinez can also look into the Real Sociedad forward who has put in decent efforts for his club and will be eager to engrave his name on the scoresheet for his national team.
