The Red Devils will be hoping to make a few acquisitions in the winter transfer window.
With the January transfer window almost upon us many top clubs across Europe will make a few signings to reinforce their squad for the rest of the season and Manchester United will expect to look for a few acquisitions they feel should bolster their team under the new head coach Ruben Amorim.
The Red Devils sacked Erik ten Hag after an embarrassing start to the new season, though changing of manager has not transformed the club’s performance in the league they feel the new head coach should have his say in this winter transfer window and below article we take a look at three players who can strengthen United’s squad.
3. Alvaro Fernandez
Alvaro Fernandez only joined Benfica from the Red Devils last December, joining the club permanently this summer. Manchester United scouts have been scouting Fernandez during his time in Benfica.
However, “their scouting mission has highlighted that he is under consideration after Amorim has prioritised the addition of a new left-back in January,” according to the source after the Red Devils were initially doubtful about bringing Fernandez back.
It has been said that United’s scouting trip offers a clue that “they could re-sign Fernandez” when the winter transfer window starts in January.
2. Ederson
Ederson, a midfielder for Atalanta, is reportedly being considered by Manchester United for a winter transfer. According to reports, United are quite interested in the Brazilian midfield player and might look into a possible trade as early as next month.
Ederson’s current deal with Atalanta expires in the summer of 2027, and he still has two and a half years left on it. The player, who is currently playing well in both Serie A and the Champions League, has not stated that he wants to leave.
1. Alphonso Davies
In an attempt to lure Alphonso Davies away from Bayern Munich, Manchester United have scheduled a meeting with his agency for January.
At the end of the current season, Davies’ contract with Munich expires, and negotiations are underway to find a new one.
The Canada international is thought to be the ideal fit for what INEOS wants and what the squad needs, and the Red Devils have been linked to a transfer for a new left-wing-back for Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-3 formation.
