The Los Blancos will look to add some new faces to their defensive line.

A serious injury sustained by central defender Eder Militao has made Real Madrid‘s rather disorganized start to the season worse.

The summer signing Kylian Mbappe’s difficult beginning at the Bernabeu and Vinicius Jr losing out on the 2024 Ballon d’Or have dominated the first few months of the season. The Spanish capital boasts enough talent in the midfield and in attack, but their key issue has been at the back.

The club are looking to bring in a centre-back and a full-back to reinforce the squad for the rest of the season, reports suggest. To address their defensive problems, Madrid need to make a statement in the January transfer window.

3. Vitor Reis

It is not unreasonable that, given Madrid’s record in attracting talented young players from Brazil, Palmeiras star Vitor Reis emerged as a potential alternative in January. The teenager caught Madrid’s eye with his quick-footed defensive performances during the summer transfer window, and it looks like he will soon join a European juggernaut if the Los Blancos make an approach for the player in the winter window.

2. Aymeric Laporte

Club legend Ramos will not be returning to the Bernabeu, although Madrid are reportedly targeting fellow countryman Aymeric Laporte in January.

Despite moving to Saudi Arabia, the former Man City defender has not shown any indications of lowering his standards. He was instrumental in Spain’s summertime victory at Euro 2024.

Laporte would undoubtedly have to take a wage reduction and some money would need to be rearranged, but his top-tier performance is already known. If Madrid can get it over the finish line, it’s obvious.

1. Alphonso Davies

Alphonso Davies has been heavily linked with Real Madrid for the majority of the past 18 months. While it was once thought that the Canadian defender will sign with Los Blancos as a free agent next summer. It is now more probable that he will sign a new deal with Bayern. Los Blancos will have to move on if that is the case,

Given Ferland Mendy’s subpar form this season, Real Madrid are probably going to look to add a new left-back in the January window.
