PSG could be banned from UCL after Kylian Mbappe goes to UEFA demanding €55M in unpaid wages & bonuses
Mbappe joined Real Madrid this summer.
Kylian Mbappe is set to take action against his former club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) for not paying him bonus money and the rest of the wages. The forward has contacted LFP and UEFA.
The former AS Monaco star is asking for payment under the terms of his contract with the club. A reported €55 million gross amount has not been paid to him by the Parisian club’s management.
The amount includes the bonus signing of (€36 million) that he was expected to receive in February. It also includes the previous three months of salary as mentioned in his deal (April, May, June). Moreover, there are some ‘ethics bonus’ for these three months as well.
The 25-year-old’s lawyer has decided to send PSG another formal letter after failing to get a response from the club. To avoid any stir he has decided to move up a gear.
Meanwhile, Mbappe has informed the matter to legal committee of the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) and, through the intermediary of the Fédération Française de Football (FFF), the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA).
The player initially told the LFP on 8th August. They have the power to ban the club from making any transfer unless such matters are solved.
Meanwhile, on 13 August, Mbappe’s camp sent a letter to the FFF urging them to inform UEFA regarding the matter. It was addressed by the manager of the FFF’s UEFA Club Licence Committee.
The authority has the right to give the license to teams competing in the competition such as the UEFA Champions League. They also have the power to cancel the club’s license to take part in the competition if any irregularities are found.
Mbappe who finally joined Real Madrid this summer as a free agent made his debut for the club in their 2-0 win against Atalanta in the UEFA Super Cup final. The forward scored a goal in that game. He additionally made his LaLiga debut in a 1-1 draw against Mallorca.
