The Brazilian’s current contract with Los Blancos will end in 2027.
After Vinicius Jr turned down Real Madrid’s offer of an extension, Paris Saint-Germain reportedly launched surprise transfer negotiations with his entourage.
According to reports, Vinicius and Real Madrid have been in talks over a new contract, but a deal is yet to be struck. The Brazilian forward also reportedly rejected the deal because he thought the club’s offer did not adequately compensate him and he was hoping for better financial circumstances.
Vinicius is reportedly considering a five-year, €1 billion (£834 million) contract with Saudi Arabian officials, which has further complicated matters and caused him to reevaluate his long-term commitment to the Spanish powerhouses.
According to Sky Sports, Paris Saint-Germain have reached out to Vinicius’ team informally amid the contract standoff. If Real Madrid are unable to live up to the winger’s expectations, the Ligue 1 winners, who are closely monitoring the situation, may make a bid.
Even though Vinicius has a contract with the Santiago Bernabeu through June 2027, his agents have made it obvious that unless Madrid sees his value, staying is not guaranteed, particularly as the season enters its pivotal phase.
The player’s entourage is also still in communication with the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Sports, which supports the notion that a move to the Middle East is a real possibility, reports suggest.
Growing tensions around Vinicius in the dressing room have been alluded to by Spanish outlets. According to reports, Luka Modric and other senior figures in the locker room are annoyed by his defensive deficiencies, combative on-field demeanour, and frequent arguments with officials.
According to the leaks, certain club officials might not be totally opposed to making a move for the 24-year-old, particularly in light of the €300 million (£250 million/$310 million) deal that Saudi Arabia is allegedly preparing. Additionally, as Kylian Mbappe steadily gains ground, there is increasing speculation that the French sensation and Rodrygo may replace Vinicius on the left wing.
Even with PSG and Saudi Arabia’s appeal, Madrid are still well-positioned to retain Vinicius. He has long been regarded as a pillar of the team by club president Florentino Perez, and a better contract offer may yet be in the works, which would entice the Brazilian to stay in the Spanish capital. Even though his future is uncertain, Vinicius is still committed to helping Madrid defeat Manchester City in the Champions League.
The Brazilian will have the chance to remind everyone of his value to the team during the crucial match, as he hopes to guide Los Blancos to yet another European victory.
