Ronaldo will become a free agent at the end of the season.
There are rumours that PSG are in talks with Cristiano Ronaldo’s entourage over a move for the Portuguese, but the rumours have been put to bed by a transfer expert.
The rumour became viral on social media, but no hard proof to back it up. An improbable rumour that seems to have come from Portugal suggested that PSG might be plotting a move for the former Real Madrid star.
There were even “discussions” and “negotiations” between the two parties, according to some. Less than a week after the five-time Ballon d’Or winner made shocking remarks about the quality of French football.
“In France, there is only PSG; the others are finished. That’s my opinion; I don’t care what they say. France is only PSG, sorry,” he stated at the Globe Soccer Awards ceremony in late December, convinced that the Saudi Pro League currently boasts a higher level than Ligue 1.
Would Ronaldo be willing to join the Paris project while PSG are prepared to accept him, regardless of his criticisms? No. In actuality, there is currently no sign that PSG are considering acquiring the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.
The Parisian club plans to concentrate on other things after a mixed first half of the season that was marked by undisputed dominance in Ligue 1 but frustrating outcomes in the Champions League. They are eager to bolster their squad in January and aim to offload some players that Luis Enrique deemed unnecessary (Randal Kolo Muani, Milan Skriniar, etc.).
Ronaldo, who has an agreement with Al-Nassr through June 2025, has stated time and time again that he is doing well in Saudi Arabia. He recently said, “Here too, I want to be a champion,” as he gets closer to turning 40 on February 5.
Although Ronaldo’s possible transfer to PSG is certainly intriguing, there are a number of obstacles that must be addressed. First, in order to create space in their roster for Ronaldo, PSG would have to let go of some of their top earners. Second, the team would have to make sure that its best players’ egos don’t collide.
