Pundit backs Cristiano Ronaldo; says he has 'no limits' to play in 2026 FIFA World Cup

Ronaldo hopes to win the 2026 FIFA World Cup next year.

Despite being accused of being “over for him,” Cristiano Ronaldo has been told he “has no limit” and is expected to play another World Cup at the age of 41.

Given that he is already 40 years old, many are wondering how long CR7 can continue to operate in the game. He has made it his mission to silence sceptics and create more history by playing in the 2026 World Cup.

Ronaldo, who is aiming for 1,000 career goals and is expected to play for Portugal in another big event in 2026, has not indicated that he is ready to think about retiring.

Emmanuel Petit, who won the World Cup with France in 1998, believes Ronaldo should be able to continue playing. Although he acknowledges that the five-time Ballon d’Or winner presents some selection challenges, he hasn’t noticed any signs that his drive for achievement has diminished.

Petit, a former midfielder for Barcelona, Chelsea, and Arsenal, told pokerfirma.com:

“When you have Cristiano Ronaldo in your team, you don’t know as a manager if you have to play him in the first 11 or as a substitute, because let’s be honest, at Euro 2024 his performances were not that good for Portugal.

“But I think this guy has no limit. He treats his body very professionally, and he’s 40. People may think it’s probably over for him now, his international career, but this guy has so much motivation and anger, which I think could have a positive influence if he’s in the team.

“Cristiano Ronaldo is such a huge name that it’s complicated for any manager to put him on the bench. The Cristiano Ronaldo situation is a really difficult one for Roberto Martinez because he’s such a superstar. It’s very complicated for him – no manager wants to be the guy that tells Ronaldo you’re on the bench or you’re not playing anymore. Because of his profile, because of his status, he’s a very difficult player to manage.”

Ronaldo is anticipated to agree to an extension of his record-breaking contract at Al-Nassr, a Saudi Pro League team. He has led Portugal to another UEFA Nations League semi-final, and possibly another trophy is up for grabs.
