Raphinha surpassed THIS Neymar record in Barcelona's 3-1 UCL win over Benfica

The former Leeds United star scored twice in the game.
Raphinha scored twice in the second leg 3-1 triumph of Barcelona against Benfica at home, setting a new record as a Brazilian player in the Champions League round of 16.
In the match where the Catalans easily defeated the Portuguese team to guarantee a trip to the quarterfinals, the 28-year-old winger scored in both halves after having also netted in the first leg.
He now has 11 goals in the European competition, which is the most by any Brazilian player who has scored in a UEFA Champions League season.
With ten goals, Kaka (2006–07), Rivaldo (1999–00), Jardel (1999–00), Roberto Firmino (2017–18), and Neymar (2014–15) shared the previous benchmark.
PSG, Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, and—most importantly—FC Barcelona have made it to the final eight of Europe’s top competition.
The Brazilian forward, who is regularly hailed as Barcelona’s finest player due to his excellent performances backed by impressive statistics, has taken on a crucial role as the team’s captain this season.
Neymar Jr. was the last Brazilian player to achieve this accomplishment, scoring 10 goals in a single Champions League campaign during Barcelona’s incredible 2014–2015 campaign, when they won the treble.
Barcelona defeated Benfica 4-1 on aggregate. This result helped them reach the Champions League quarterfinals once more. This time it was after an outstanding run in the league phase, where they finished second in the table.
Raphina has been a different player this season. His goals have also come in crucial games. He was the player who also netted in the 1-0 win over Benfica in the first-leg, which gave the Catalan club an important lead going into the second-leg.
Not only Raphinha but Lamine Yamal has been incredible as well. Yamal has contributed to the team’s victories and stepped up in many big matches this season.
The Catalan club are in terrific form this season under new head coach Hansi Flick. Blaugrana will be dreaming of going all the way into the final of the competition and breaking their Champions League drought, since their last title victory in 2015.
