The Dutch star was on loan at the German club.
According to the reports, Netherlands attacker Xavi Simons is anticipated to make a permanent transfer to RB Leipzig for a sum of about €50 million ($52 million) with hefty add-ons.
Around the transfer deadline, Simons, 21, who was on loan at Leipzig from Paris Saint-Germain since the previous season, is expected to finalize his permanent switch.
His contract, which he is expected to sign through 2027, may be worth between €75 and €80 million with add-ons. The Dutch international has already made an impression at Leipzig and is considered one of Europe’s top young talents.
Despite missing a portion of the season due to an ankle ailment, he has already scored five goals and provided four assists in 17 games this season.
Xavi Simons had been on loan at Leipzig for the previous season and a half after spending the 2022–2023 season at PSV Eindhoven. He has also scored three goals and three assists in his 24 appearances with the national team.
With Leipzig slated to pay a sum of €50 million plus bonuses, Simons is anticipated to sign a deal with the team through 2027. Although it is unlikely to be achieved, the bonuses in the contract could potentially raise the cost to almost €80 million. For over two seasons, the 21-year-old has been on loan at Leipzig from PSG.
Although Simons is not being offered a long-term deal there is a possibility that he may be sold in the summer. The Dutch international will depart Leipzig in the summer if they are unable to qualify for the Champions League. But, if Leipzig are able to stay in Europe’s top league, a medium-term contract extension is also possible.
Leipzig’s existing transfer record, held by colleague Loïs Openda, who arrived from RC Lens in 2023 for €40 million, will be broken by Xavi’s permanent arrival.
