Real Madrid's Antonio Rudiger 'open to idea' of playing in Saudi Pro League

The German international has two years left on his contract.

Real Madrid centre-back Antonio Rudiger is open to the idea of joining a Saudi Pro League team in order to end his career there. The former Chelsea player is attracted to the prospect of finishing his career in Saudi Arabia.

In past years we have witnessed how the Saudi Pro League have managed to land many big names such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kante and Neymar by offering lucrative contracts.

Even, Rudiger has been linked with Saudi sides many times since last season. He could now finally make a decision on his future soon.

However, Los Blancos believe that the German international will continue at the club for another season. Still, it’s tough to turn down a Saudi club when they knock on the door with a bumper deal.

Rudiger’s deal with Madrid will come to an end in 2026 summer and the player is currently 33 years old. As per the Spanish club’s policy once his deal expires the club could hand him another year’s contract.

However, talks over the contracts are likely to occur after the end of the season. Rudiger will have to make a massive choice on his future. Clubs from Saudi may be able to tempt the defender to join them after the end of this term.

Real Madrid could also look to add a defender in the transfer window considering they don’t have enough options at the back. David Alaba is coming back from a long-term injury. Meanwhile, Eder Militao and Rudiger have only been guarding the backline.

Los Blancos will need to make more additions to add depth to their defensive line. Meanwhile, Rudiger is still playing at his best. It is unlikely that the Spanish capital club would want to sell him next season or when his deal expires with the club.

It would take a big fee from Saudi clubs to tempt Madrid to sell the German defender in the 2025 summer window.
