[WATCH] Real Madrid fan burn Kylian Mbappe kits after disappointing run of form
Mbappe has been under massive scrutiny since joining Los Blancos.
A Real Madrid supporter had shared a video of Kylian Mbappe’s shirt on fire and threatened to cease cheering for the Frenchman.
In the summer, Mbappe, 25, finally made the long-awaited free move from Paris Saint-Germain to the Spanish city. However, many of his new club’s fans have not been impressed with the forward thus far. His problems worsened in the Champions League when Liverpool goalie Caoimhin Kelleher saved a vital penalty.
Real Madrid lost 2-0 at Anfield as a result of the missed penalty kick when they were 1-0 down (his spot-kick could have levelled the game, and change its dynamics). One social media user’s video resurfaced which he posted after the El Clasico defeat a month back.
The Real Madrid supporter had posted a video of a burning Mbappe No. 9 shirt. They captioned it in dramatic fashion:
“My hopes and support for Kylian Mbappe is over. I’ll assume anyone supporting him has IQ of that of a house fly.”
In his 12 LaLiga games this campaign, Mbappe has already scored seven goals. With one game in hand, Real Madrid are four points below Barcelona and in second place in LaLiga. Meanwhile, they now hold the final spot for a knockout rounds playoff berth in the Champions League, as they are 24th in the league phase table.
Manager Carlo Ancelotti has faced criticism, especially when his team lost to Barcelona 4-0 at home last month. Jude Bellingham defended his teammate last night while Mbappe was being criticized.
From the beginning, Mbappe’s transfer to Real Madrid has dominated news reports. The months of conjecture, the fact that Paris St-Germain had to release him for nothing, the outrageous salaries, the anticipation, and the excitement.
The French attacker is now having trouble adjusting to this all-star squad. Mbappe has struggled, and there are still concerns about his place in the club and how to maximize his potential and that of Vinicius Jr., who plays a similar role.
Even without Vinicius Jr. who was out due to injury, Mbappe was unable to leave his mark from his preferred position. However, his teammates continue to have faith in his ability to deliver.
