Real Madrid injury news for Atletico clash; Kylian Mbappe out for three weeks

When Real Madrid play Atletico Madrid in the Madrid derby on Sunday night, they’ll be looking to extend their winning streak to six games across all competitions.
Despite a flat start to the new season, the Los Blancos regrouped quickly. They are now second in the table continuing to put pressure on Barcelona who are top of the 2024-25 LaLiga standings.
Tuesday night’s 3-2 LaLiga triumph over Alaves by Carlo Ancelotti’s team prolonged their winning streak, putting them on 17 points from their first seven league games. The team from the Spanish capital also lost a key player to an injury.
After winning all seven of their games in the 2024–25 season, Barcelona lead Los Blancos by four points, placing them second in the standings.
Real Madrid injury news ahead of Atletico Madrid match
Real Madrid have been mired in injuries this season, with many players yet to return while a few suffered fresh injuries this term. Long-term absentee David Alaba is still recovering from an ACL injury. His return is yet to be confirmed.
Eduardo Camavinga had sustained a knee injury during the training session in their UEFA Super Cup match against Atalanta. The midfielder has made progress in his recovery. He is expected to be ready for the Derby game. Dani Ceballos picked up an ankle injury during Real Madrid’s game against Real Betis before the September international break. He still has a few more weeks on the sidelines.
Brahim Diaz will be on the sidelines until the middle of November due to a hip abductor injury, which he suffered against Real Sociedad.
Captain Dani Carvajal picked a knock in last weekend’s game against Espanyol. He missed out on the match against Alaves but is anticipated to start against Atletico.
One of the major absentees will be Kylian Mbappe who sustained a thigh injury against Alaves. He will be out of action for three weeks, including this Derby affair.
