Is Rodri forcing a move to Real Madrid from Man City after recent comments?

The Spanish midfielder isn’t ruling out a move to Los Blancos.
Rodri, a midfielder for Manchester City, has not ruled out a move to Real Madrid. After a year marred by injuries, the 29-year-old, who claimed the Ballon d’Or in 2024, is fully recovered.
Rodri has made 293 appearances for Pep Guardiola’s club across all competitions since joining Man City from Atletico Madrid in 2019.
City statistically lost the Premier League title last season as a result of his absence. In fact, during Rodri’s tenure at the club, Guardiola’s team has won 71.3% of the games in which he has participated; when the midfield player is absent, the team’s victory percentage falls to 62.6%.
Rodri is open to a Real Madrid move
In a radio interview on Thursday, he was cautious not to rule out the prospect of moving to Real Madrid after being linked to the club this summer. He was asked if his Atlético past precluded such a transfer.
“Having played for Atletico before would not prevent me from playing for Real Madrid. There are other players who have done that before, maybe not direct transfers, but eventually.”
“You can’t turn down one of the world’s best clubs.”
After being released from Atletico’s junior side after six years, Rodri joined Villarreal, where he made his senior debut before returning to his old team in 2018.
A year later, after an outstanding season with Atletico, Pep Guardiola’s City paid his release clause to sign him.
One year after City won the treble, Rodri helped Spain win Euro 2024 and went on to become one of the world’s top midfielders in the Premier League, ultimately winning the 2024 Ballon d’Or.
