The English star has not played for the Red Devils in the last few games

Marcus Rashford’s persistent omission from the team for matchday is due to his lack of dedication to training, reveals Manchester United coach Ruben Amorim, who also stated that he will bench 63-year-old goalkeeping instructor Jorge Vital over the England international.

Rashford hasn’t played for United since a 2-1 Europa League win over Viktoria Plzen in December. He has been tipped to a move away from Old Trafford in the January transfer window. Since then, Rashford hasn’t even been used as a substitute in the Red Devils’ 11 games in all competitions.

When questioned if Rashford’s participation may give the club more attacking energy after United’s victory over Fulham, Amorim gave an explanation of why the 27-year-old is still left off the roster.

“It’s always the same reason,” Amorim revealed. “The reasons is the training, the way I see what a footballer should do. In training, in life and it’s every day, every detail. So if things don’t change, I will not change.”

Amorim kept the possibility open but outlined his guidelines for ensuring that Rashford is reintegrated into the team if he cannot find an opportunity away from Manchester United in January.

“It’s the same situation for every player. If you do the maximum, if you do the right things, we can use every player,” he said.

“I will put Vital [United’s 63-year-old goalkeeping coach] on the bench before I put a player that doesn’t give the maximum every day so I will not change in that.”

Although a number of European clubs have expressed interest in signing Rashford, including AC Milan and Barcelona, it is becoming less likely that the forward will leave Old Trafford this transfer window.

Despite his exile from the first squad, he has a contract with Manchester United that runs until 2028, making him one of the team’s best earners.
