Sir Jim Ratcliffe has made several drastic changes at the club after becoming co-owner.
According to Ruben Amorim, the brutal Old Trafford layoffs of staff members and increased ticket prices should carry the can by his Manchester United failures.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the club’s new co-owner, intends to lay off 200 more employees as part of drastic cost-cutting measures that have also resulted in higher ticket prices.
There have been many changes since Jim Ratcliffe became the co-owner of the club. He has already revamped the United’s board and brought new supervisors to oversee the club’s development.
Additionally, United manager Amorim acknowledges that improved on-field performance might have saved the situation.
Ruben Amorim said: “Our team for a long period of time is not performing. We are buying players, spending money.
“And then we don’t have that return. So, it’s on us, these problems. People are losing their jobs so we have to acknowledge that. The biggest problem is the football — we’re not in the Champions League, so revenues aren’t the same.
“Everybody here knows it’s really hard on people who are losing jobs. The fans are always supporting us, they are amazing and we’re increasing ticket prices.
“We know that is our fault in the football department. We are responsible for that. It’s really important to not ignore that.”
250 employees were let go in the fall, ticket costs skyrocketed, and concessions for seniors and children were eliminated. The players used to refer to Jackie Kay, the head of team operations, as a “mum,”. Even legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson, who was in the role of an ambassador, has been fired.
Ratcliffe has made some significant adjustments, and he intends to implement more of them in order to lead the team into its period of dominance. But as of right now, Manchester United are still struggling, sitting in 14th place in the Premier League standings.
These drastic measures are currently thought to have an impact on morale before Sunday’s trip to Tottenham, who are also struggling in the league.
