Santiago Giménez joins Messi & Neymar for a special record against Bayern in Champions League

Giménez led Feyenoord to a 3-0 win against the German club.
Feyenoord defeated Bayern Munich 3-0 in the UEFA Champions League, and Santiago Giménez had one of his best games ever.
A stunning first touch put the Mexico international through on goal when he blasted the ball past Manuel Neuer to open the lead. Giménez secured a first-half brace against the German powerhouses with a penalty kick a minute before halftime.
Giménez became a member of an extremely limited group with his brace. He joined Lionel Messi, Neymar Jr., and Raphinha as the fourth player who was not born in Europe to rack up a brace in the first half against Bayern Munich in a European tournament.
Both Messi and Neymar scored when they played for Barcelona as the Argentine netted a brace in first-leg while the Brazilian found the back of the net twice in the second leg of the 2013-14 semi-final. Meanwhile, Raphinha recently scored a hat trick against the German club.
“El Bebote” is back to his peak after missing more than two months of play due to a hamstring injury earlier in the season. He has four goals in four Champions League outings so far this year. His performance has seen many clubs keeping tabs on him with AC Milan showing increasing interest in signing the 23-year-old striker, thus it appears that a move to a bigger team is imminent.
The Cruz Azul academy product was also involved in Feyenoord’s third goal. This is a huge win for the Dutch team, which now guarantees a spot in the Champions League playoffs. Additionally, they will have a chance to place in the top eight and advance straight to the round of 16 going into the final match of the league phase.
Next week, Feyenoord will return to action when they travel to France to play Lille in their final match of the UCL league phase. They have won four matches out of seven games in the competition so far losing twice and drawing once.
