The Brazilian club are keen to bring more European stars.
As they prepare for the much-anticipated reunion with Brazilian sensation Neymar Jr., Santos FC are reportedly interested in former Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba and former PSG defender Sergio Ramos.
Following his recent contract termination with Al-Hilal, Neymar is scheduled to undergo medical testing at Santos, his boyhood club.
Santos are scheduled to play in Brazil’s top division next season after a good campaign in which they were crowned Serie B winners. As a result, the club’s management has decided to strengthen their team in preparation for the upcoming challenge.
According to the source, Neymar has helped Santos in their search for important reinforcements by suggesting players he would like to have joined him. Notably, Pogba and Ramos are only two of the well-known names that Neymar and his father have reportedly named.
Both players do not currently have a club. After an 18-month reduced doping ban, Juventus mutually terminated Pogba’s contract, making him a free agent. In a similar vein, Ramos departed Sevilla after agreeing on contract termination and is currently searching for a new challenge.
It’s interesting to note that Ramos was previously linked to Botafogo, a Brazilian team, but the move fell through. Corinthians also expressed interest, but Ramos’ high wage demands caused talks to stop.
Thiago Silva, Marcelo, and Paulo Henrique Ganso are among the other well-known players being considered in addition to Pogba and Ramos.
Deivid Washington, a 19-year-old attacker, is also rumoured to be close to joining Neymar at Santos on a season-long loan from Chelsea, who paid €16m to sign him from Santos in the summer of 2023. But he has only made three appearances since arriving and has battled for first-team games.
Washington is expected to return to Santos prior to the end of the winter transfer window since his loan agreement is nearing completion. The youthful prodigy now has a rare chance to link with Neymar, another Santos academy graduate.
