The Brazilian’s contract with the club expired.
Neymar will stay with the team until the end of the year, according to Santos.
Neymar, a Brazilian forward who assisted Santos in staying in the top flight, has agreed to a new contract that should be revealed soon. His previous contract ended on December 31, 2025.
According to reports, the 33-year-old was scheduled to sign a contract that would last until June 10, the day before the 2026 FIFA World Cup begins in the US, Mexico, and Canada.
Will the new contract last until December 31?

But in a video that Santos uploaded on X, it was implied that Neymar’s contract will be extended.
A Santos shirt with the date “June 10” hanging from a goal net at the Vila Belmiro stadium is shown in the video, along with the words “the time is almost here,” along with an error message. “December 31, 2026” is the new date that appears at the end of the video.
After returning to his childhood club, Santos, a year ago, Neymar scored 11 goals and provided four assists in 28 games.
Due to injuries, he only participated in half of the Brazilian Serie A matches. However, his eight league goals—four of which came in the final rounds—helped Santos avoid relegation.
Neymar’s participation in the 2026 World Cup is a major question in Brazil. He recently had some minor knee surgery. The former FC Barcelona player must be fully recovered to compete at the World Cup, according to Brazil coach Carlo Ancelotti.
Neymar, Brazil’s all-time top scorer, wants to compete in this year’s major tournament. However, he hasn’t played for the national team since suffering an ACL tear in his left knee during World Cup qualification in October 2023.
How long will Neymar’s new deal last?
His new deal will last until the end of the year.
When did his previous deal expire?
It expired at the end of 2025.
When did he join Santos?
He joined them in January 2025.
